Ian McKellen Hints Gandalf and Frodo Will Appear in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum
At the "For the Love of Fantasy" fan event in London, Sir Ian McKellen teased that both Gandalf and Frodo are set to appear in the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. While he stopped short of confirming whether he or Elijah Wood will reprise their iconic roles, his comment—“there’s a character called Frodo and another called Gandalf, apart from that, my lips are sealed”—sent ripples through the fan community. The film, directed by Andy Serkis with production by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens, is slated to begin filming in May 2026 and release on December 17, 2027.
